Aleksandra Nouwens-Simonowicz (assistant teacher)
“For more and more of us, home has less to do with a piece of soil than a piece of soul.”
What inspires you to be an assistant teacher?
People development has always played an important role in my professional life and, over time, it has become a career and real passion of mine. I am naturally curious about what drives people, what helps them grow, and how they find their own direction. I find it inspiring to see others discover their strengths, build confidence, and realize their potential. Being able to support and encourage that development makes the process even more rewarding.
About me
I was born and raised in Poland and have been living in the Netherlands for many years.
Living in another country has shaped me personally. Adapting to a new culture, language, and environment has taught me a lot about resilience, openness, and what it means to find your place somewhere new while still staying true to your roots.
People development has always been an important part of my life, and I feel a particular connection with internationals, as many of their experiences around change, identity, and belonging are also familiar to me.
Why have you chosen the ACC and what did the training bring you?
I chose the ACC because it brings together a diverse group of people who are intentionally exploring, shaping, or changing their path. The training gave me so much more than just a learning journey. It supported my personal development, challenged me to grow, and created meaningful connections that have lasted well beyond the programme itself.
The ACC is an inspiring community, and I feel privileged to continue my journey within it — this time from the other side of the process, supporting others as they begin their own.
Who is my hero and why?
I don’t think I have one particular hero. I admire people who, despite the odds, have the courage to follow their passion, stay true to themselves, and pursue their dreams. I am especially inspired by those who find the strength to rebuild themselves after difficult experiences and continue moving forward with purpose.
