Klara Strecker (assistant teacher)
“It is the quality of our relationships, that determines the quality of our lives” – Esther Perel
What inspires you to be an assistant teacher?
I loved my time with the ACC and saw being an assistant teacher as a great opportunity to stay connected to the ACC community and to support a new group of aspiring coaches on their journey. I’m excited to share my experiences, but also to get inspired by the thoughts and energy of a new group.
Besides that, I have very much enjoyed working in education before, and am hoping to gain some more valuable experiences as an assistant teacher.
About me
I am originally from Germany, but I’ve been living in the beautiful city of Maastricht for 10 years now. When I first joined the ACC, I was still pursuing a career in academia, researching global sustainability challenges – a field I remain deeply passionate about. However, starting my coaching training felt like coming home. Over my two-year journey with the ACC, it became clear that my future lies in working with people rather than in academia. So, I made the daunting decision to leave my PhD and start my own coaching practice.
When I’m not navigating my own career crises, I love staying active and spending time in nature. The ocean is my happy place, and I seize every opportunity to escape into the water.
Why have you chosen the ACC and what did the training bring you?
I was searching for an English-speaking program in the Netherlands that covered a broad range of topics and had a strong focus on counseling. I’m someone who finds many subjects fascinating, and although I initially joined the ACC with the intention of becoming a relationship counselor, I quickly realized that there are so many themes that deeply captivate me.
During my time with the ACC, I made lifelong friends and, for the first time in a long time, felt like I was exactly where I was meant to be. It might sound cheesy, but the training was quite transformational for me, both personally and professionally.
Who is my hero and why?
I don’t think I have just one hero. I move through life with curiosity and a constant hunger for inspiration, so I find heroes who inspire me all around. However, if I had to choose one person who has inspired me the most in recent years, it would be Esther Perel—her work with people feels like magic to me.
