Tamara Kuselman (assistant teacher)

“This, too, shall pass”

What inspires you to be an assistant teacher?
My artistic background taught me the value of being a sounding board and a supportive presence for others. This is what truly inspires me in my role as an assistant teacher. I find it very rewarding to support new professionals in this important transition and help them discover their unique voice and way of working.

About me
I’m a Counsellor and Coach, with a focus on relationships, family, and grief, working with both individuals and couples. My approach is deeply influenced by my artistic background, which allows me to incorporate creative and intuitive strategies into my work. I grew up in Argentina within a large family where art, therapy, and music were intertwined. My life has also been shaped by living in Barcelona and now the Netherlands for the past 13 years.

Why have you chosen the ACC and what did the training bring you?
I really liked the approach of how counselling complements coaching, having the tools to deepen into the issues we experience in our lives at the same time than using coaching tools to make action plans sounded like the perfect combo. As well as the mindset of the school that you make your own practice which I find is a creative position, use what you have, what resonates with you.

Who is my hero and why?
I don’t believe in having a single hero. Instead, I am inspired by many people I meet. I am drawn to those who see challenges as chances to learn something about themselves and the world. I am also inspired by people who are empathetic toward others, who respect differences and are curious to understand them. And I am especially inspired by those who find joy in music, dance, and improvisation – they remind me to stay present and connected with my body.

What is your favourite quote?
My favorite quote is “This, too, shall pass.” (Anonymous) It’s a simple phrase that I find very grounding. It reminds me that every experience – whether a challenging moment or a moment of great happiness – is part of a larger, ever-changing process. It encourages me to be fully present with whatever is here, knowing it won’t last forever.
